🖌️ From Dark to Bright: A Living Room Repaint Case Study in Mansfield, MA.
Sometimes, the smallest changes make the biggest impact. In this case, it was a fresh coat of paint that completely transformed a family’s living room—and turned it into a bright, welcoming space.
The Challenge: Dark Walls, Dull Mood
When the homeowner reached out to JCB Painting, they had just bought a home in Mansfield, MA. The living room had deep brown walls that made the space feel smaller and darker than it really was. The goal was to brighten the room and give it a clean, updated look without a full renovation.
The plan? Turn the living room into a part-time playroom and keep it neutral enough to grow with the family.
We recommended Benjamin Moore’s “Simply White” for both the walls and the trim. It’s a soft white—not too cold, not too yellow—that works well in natural light and pairs with almost any furniture or decor. It’s one of our go-to colors for a reason.
The Process: Quick and Clean
Prep is always key. We:
Patched nail holes, and patched, sanded, and smoothed over wall imperfections.
Primed over the dark color to avoid bleed-through.
The Result: Fresh, Bright, and Kid-Friendly
The difference was immediate. The white paint made the space feel open and calm—perfect for a growing family. Even better, the low/sheen eggshell finish we used is easy to clean, so fingerprints and crayons won’t be a problem. The trim was painted with Benjamin Moore Pre-Catalyzed Waterborne Epoxy semi-gloss, our go-to semi.
